Make the most of your Grapevine plans

Here's some quick and easy ways to optimise your Grapevine plans and ensure you get the best value out of Grapevine.

Note: the tips below pertain to the current plans, although they're still worth noting if you’re with an older Grapevine plan.

  1. Choose the plan that's right for you

    Often, it's much easier to grow into an account than it is to cut back on your internet usage. As you get used to faster speeds, you also increase the likelihood of downloading more data.

    Don't forget that each email, picture, video and flash file that you view on the internet counts towards your download limit, even if you are not actively saving it to your computer.

    As a guide, here’s an indication of file sizes for various media:

    • A standard webpage: 50-150kb (depending on number of pictures)
    • A standard email (text only): 50kb
    • A small photo attachment on email: 100kb
    • An average digital camera photo attachment on email: 500kb
    • A standard music song file: 4MB
    • A standard music CD: 110 MB
    • A DivX movie file: 700 MB
    • A DVD-quality file: 4000 MB

  2. Check your Grapevine email account regularly

    Grapevine will send you usage notifications via email so you can monitor your download usage to avoid overrun charges. These notifications will be sent to your primary Grapevine email address, unless you notify Grapevine of a different email address you would like the notifications sent to.

    We'll notify you when your estimated usage reaches 50%, 80%, 110%, 130% and 150% of your monthly download limit – so that you can remain in control of your monthly spend.

    By ensuring that Grapevine has an email address of an account that you use regularly, you can be sure to receive important updates from Grapevine.

  3. Surf smart – maximise your off-peak downloads

    If you’re on the Pay for what you use plan, you get free unlimited off-peak downloads for 12 hours, from 6.00am to 6.00pm.

    Have a movie you would like to download? By scheduling your downloads during the day or on weekends when you’re home, you’ll maximise your Grapevine plans easy!
